About The Position

People Serving People is the largest and most comprehensive emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness in Minnesota and a dedicated leader in homeless prevention. The Housekeeping Associate is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the St. Ann’s property and supporting additional People Serving People sites as needed. This role ensures a clean, welcoming, and dignified environment for guests, staff, and visitors while applying trauma-informed care principles in daily interactions. This position works closely with the St. Ann’s Volunteer Coordinator to support and guide volunteer groups assisting with housekeeping-related projects.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Flexibility is required to support coverage for PTO, absences, and operational needs across multiple properties within the portfolio.
  • The Housekeeping Associate must be willing to adjust work locations and responsibilities as needed to help maintain consistent service levels and quality standards across departments and sites. This flexibility ensures uninterrupted operations and supports our commitment to providing stable, high-quality environments for guests and staff.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, kneel, bend, and pick up items up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent mobility is required across building spaces and between assigned properties.
  • Self-motivated, trustworthy, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general cleanliness of interior and exterior building areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, window washing, restroom sanitation, and trash removal.
  • Assist with laundering guest linens and towels as needed.
  • Clean vacant, turnover, and heavily used rooms when required.
  • Support the cleanliness and readiness of shared spaces to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
  • Lead and support volunteers and contracted temporary workers during cleaning activities.
  • Partner with the St. Ann’s Volunteer Coordinator to organize, direct, and ensure quality completion of volunteer housekeeping projects.
  • Apply Trauma-Informed Care principles in daily interactions with guests and team members.
  • Cover multiple properties as assigned to ensure operational needs are met.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
