About The Position
Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This full-time position, scheduled for 40 hours per week on day shifts, is for an Environmental Services Technician. The role is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
Requirements
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience
- Ability to use computer
- Prior cleaning experience
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines
- Empty waste baskets
- Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
- Provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff by applying knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment
- Clean patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met
- Wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines
- Keep storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
- Use pagers and other technology appropriately when needed
- Assist in the laundry areas as appropriate
