About The Position

Capital Health is a dynamic health care resource accredited by the DNV, comprising two hospitals, an outpatient center, a satellite ED, and an extensive network of primary and specialty care providers. The Capital Health Medical Group includes over 600 physicians and other healthcare professionals serving the region. This Housekeeping Aide position is part-time, scheduled for 20 weekly hours, and requires working every other weekend and holidays. The role involves working in compliance with department, facility, and regulatory safety policies, demonstrating efficient and safe use of housekeeping equipment and solutions. The aide must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to situations requiring communication with other departments or patients, performing various cleaning tasks to maintain an orderly, sanitary, and attractive environment within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Handle chemicals and solutions per departmental and material safety data sheet standards error free and efficiently.
  • Ensure chemicals are properly labeled and utilized at all times.
  • Adhere to safety regulations as outlined in departmental policies, facility and JCAHO guidelines.
  • Present department in a positive manner to visitors, patients, and other hospital personnel.
  • Utilize appropriate department chain of command in resolving complaints, grievances, or problems accurately.
  • Report equipment needing repair to supervisor quickly.
  • Utilize departmental scripting for identifying one self upon entry of patient room and ask if there is any additional customer service needing to be performed before leaving area.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively when dealing with members of the organization.
  • Display patience and tact when dealing with other hospital personnel.
  • Clean all areas using the cleaning procedure as outlined in orientation and department policy and procedures.
  • Use appropriate solutions for cleaning and disinfecting area to be cleaned and thoroughly wash and sanitize furniture when patients are discharged.
  • Collect routinely waste, sanitize collects waste, and sanitize trash can as needed.
  • Clean assigned carts and equipment daily, ensure all items are returned in an orderly fashion all of the time.
  • Replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap and bring supplies and equipment to area as needed.
  • Observe and follow isolation techniques in accordance with Infection Control Policy.
  • Clean and sanitize areas affected with blood and body fluid spills.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment such as gloves when cleaning and washing hands throughout the day and adhere to hospital policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or crew leader and possess a willingness to adapt to changing departmental demands.
  • Have access to medication storage areas for cleaning and maintenance purposes.
