About The Position

The Housekeeping-Aid position at Marriott Short Pump in Glen Allen, VA, involves maintaining positive guest relations and confidentiality, resolving guest complaints, and ensuring guest satisfaction. The role requires knowledge of hotel features, services, rates, and daily operations. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, using chemicals safely, stocking linen rooms, cleaning common areas like elevators, pool areas, ice/soda machines, and hallways. The aid will also clean guest rooms (rugs, carpets, furniture, walls, ceilings, turning mattresses), remove dirty linen and trash, deliver items to guest rooms upon request, and handle lost and found items. The position requires assisting co-workers and guests, notifying supervisors of complaints, and adhering to all hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards. Housepersons are not allowed in guestrooms unless requested by a supervisor and must always be in plain view. The role also involves familiarity with local attractions to assist guests and assisting in emergencies to protect guests, associates, and the building.

Responsibilities

  • Always maintain positive guest relations and guest confidentiality.
  • Work to resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction and communicating effectively with guests as well as team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of all hotel features/services, hours of operation, room rates, special packages and promotions, daily house count and expected arrivals/departures and scheduled daily group activities.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Use equipment only as intended.
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Complete daily report as instructed by supervisor.
  • Stock linen room with supplies.
  • Empty linen from housekeeping carts.
  • Sweep and mop areas in front of elevators; clean all trash cans, and clean elevator track.
  • Maintain pool areas.
  • Clean pool windows and bathroom daily.
  • Clean ice and soda machines on all floors.
  • Dust light fixtures in hallways.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom and carpet shampoo machine.
  • Wash walls and ceiling, moves furniture’s and turn mattress.
  • Remove all the dirty linen from laundry chutes and dirty linen from hallways.
  • Pick up trash from all floors after the room attendants finish for the day.
  • Deliver towels, cribs, cots and other items to the guest rooms upon request.
  • Turn in lost and found items immediately to the supervisor.
  • Aid co-workers and guests as needed.
  • Notify the supervisor of any guests’ complaints or comments.
  • Be familiar with all local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Assists in handling emergencies to protect our guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during emergencies.
  • Act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status.
  • Have basic knowledge of the local downtown area to provide guests with information and recommendations during their stay on property.
  • Responsible for knowing and abiding by all departments, Commonwealth Lodging Management and hotel policies and procedures, as well as brand standards, policies and procedures.
