About The Position

This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing tasks.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• May be required to serve a probationary period.
• Subject to background/security investigation.
• Pre-employment physical required.
• Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
• Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required.

Responsibilities

• Delegate responsibility for assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and project-by-project basis.
• Coordinate work with supervisors of other services within the position's area of jurisdiction to avoid interrupting patient care or other activities.
• Plan daily and weekly assignments, scheduling periodic work for areas of responsibility, considering the availability of personnel and equipment to meet established priorities.
• Train staff and ensure they are using patient-centered care principles.
• Keep supervisor informed about significant trends, changing conditions, and major problem areas.
• Ensure employees have adequate training opportunities for advancement.
• Act in the absence of higher-level management within EMS.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
