About The Position

The Environmental Services (EVS) personnel play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment within healthcare facilities. They work closely with infection prevention teams to help stop healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) from spreading. This position requires the ability to adapt to flexible work schedules, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision. The role involves performing a variety of cleaning duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. The EVS staff must use appropriate cleaning supplies and chemicals according to departmental procedures and maintain assigned areas in a neat and sanitary condition.

Requirements

  • Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Skill in managing one's own time and/or the time of others.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work according to set procedures, sequences, or pace.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in hospital housekeeping preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and prepares patient rooms, beds, stretchers, and other assigned areas in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Uses safe and proper cleaning procedures according to departmental guidelines.
  • Attends 80% of Environmental Services Department monthly staff meetings annually.
  • Completes daily reports and paperwork as assigned.
  • Cleans up after accidents or abnormal spills when asked to do so throughout the building.
  • Cleans assigned areas according to procedure to meet established infection control, sanitation, and safety guidelines.
  • Replenishes linen and other supplies in assigned areas.
  • Removes linen and trash from patient rooms, lobbies, bathrooms, stairwells, and other common areas of the hospital.
  • Cleans bathrooms and toilets, including furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and scrubbing floors and walls.
  • Cleans clinical and non-clinical areas of the facility in accordance with departmental and hospital policy.
