About The Position

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for performing general housekeeping duties as assigned and following routine cleaning schedules.

Requirements

  • High school graduate preferred.
  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge regarding infection control standards according to local, state, and federal guidelines, as well as knowledge of proper housekeeping procedures.
  • Ability to work with people and establish satisfactory relationships with residents, families, providers, and coworkers.
  • Ability to use time wisely, working with frequent interruptions and minimal supervision, while prioritizing and organizing duties.
  • Ability to problem solve and be proactive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including electronic and telephone communication
  • Must be able to communicate with staff, family, and residents and to use the telephone, fax, and electronic communication methods
  • Must have the ability to read typewritten documents.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Role requires frequent bending, squatting, stooping, sitting, walking, standing, pushing and pulling movements.
  • Willingness to work in an environment where he or she may be subjected to offensive odors, spills, noises, and cleaning chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous institutional housekeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Treat residents, families/responsible parties, staff, volunteers, and visitors with a high level of customer service and respect at all times
  • Use proper lifting/safety measures at all times
  • Responsible for overall cleanliness of assigned communities
  • Follow policies and procedures for routine cleaning schedules and notice and take care of cleaning for non-routine areas if noticed
  • Maintain adequate supplies in all common area and resident bathrooms
  • Clean resident apartments/units prior to admission, after discharge, and ongoing per schedule
  • Clean handrails, walls, and other common touchpoints frequently, using appropriate cleaning techniques and methods
  • Maintain the safety of residents and employees.
  • Follow infection control guidelines when conducting the job and encountering residents, including those requiring precautionary measures or isolation.
  • Report incidents or issues to supervisor as soon as possible
  • Maintain professional boundaries with residents, families, visitors, volunteers, and other staff
  • Accepts responsibility for personal and professional growth, serving on committees as designated or voluntarily to promote the organization’s mission
  • Completes timecard approval, and is present in accordance with attendance policy, and works as scheduled.
  • Attends mandatory inservices, meetings, and annual required training.
  • Acts professional in appearance and manner, wearing the official uniform and nametag at all times and has appropriate personal hygiene.
  • Uses correct handwashing techniques and follows infection control procedures according to facility, local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Participates in quality improvement measures.
  • Has knowledge of and follows facility policies and procedures, Resident Bill of Rights, HIPAA, and Vulnerable Adult Act, observing confidentiality of residents, staff, and the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
