About The Position

This Housekeeper position involves cleaning all areas of the hospital according to established policies and procedures, and participating in performance improvement activities. The role requires performing assigned tasks professionally, including routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways, ensuring they are clean, neat, and sanitary. The housekeeper is expected to complete work assignments in a timely manner, utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies, and properly maintain equipment. Key responsibilities also include assisting visitors with directions, introducing oneself to patients, families, and visitors, reporting safety hazards, transporting trash and hazardous waste to designated disposal areas, and replenishing supplies. Adherence to all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions, and hand hygiene, is mandatory. The role demands maintaining set quality standards, working assigned shifts (day, evening, or night), and the ability to work independently with normal supervision. Observing safety precautions, maintaining age-specific precautions, optimizing patient safety, and supporting a culture of safety and quality are also critical. The individual should be able to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Professional requirements include adhering to the dress code, completing annual education, maintaining regulatory requirements and patient confidentiality, reporting to work on time, wearing identification, maintaining good rapport with staff, attending reviews and meetings, representing the organization positively, participating in performance improvement, complying with ethical business practices, and communicating the facility's mission, ethics, and goals.

Requirements

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • One to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
