About The Position

Job Summary: Keep assigned areas clean, sanitized, and aseptic by scouring, scrubbing, mopping, window washing, carpet vacuuming, dusting, and other typical housekeeping tasks. Keep workstations clean and well stocked. Job Relationships: 1. Reports to: Environmental Services Director and Housekeeping Manager. 2. Internal Contacts: Nursing Assistants, Maintenance, and Residents. 3. External Contacts: Residents, family, and friends. Hours of Work: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dress Code: Colored pants or skirt, supportive walking shoes, uniform top, name tag, and maintain a neat and clean appearance. Essential Requirement of Work: (No specific requirements) 1. Previous housekeeping experience preferable. 2. Ability to follow directions. 3. Highly developed sense of responsibility. 4. Commitment to excellence in cleaning. 5. Ability to cooperate with others. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability for Full Performance: 1. Knowledge of general work routines. 2. Knowledge of procedures. 3. Working knowledge of procedures for chemical use. 4. Knowledge of Bethesda’s personnel policies. Physical Demands of the Job: 1. Continual walking and standing. 2. Life weights of 20-40 pounds occasionally. 3. Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling movements. 4. Occasional squatting, kneeling, sitting, reaching above shoulder levels. 5. Reasonable accommodations may be made for all of the above. Mental Demands of the Job: Requires some self-direction to comply with necessary job requirements. 1. Effective Error:     a. Cleanliness and sanitation is not maintained resulting in potential infectious problems.     b. Poor public appearance.     c. Poor maintenance of living areas results in other co-workers having to do extra duties. 2. Quantity Performance Results in:     a. Sanitization of the environment.     b. Resident and family approval.     c. Co-worker and other departmental satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Previous housekeeping experience preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain residents’ rooms in neat and tidy order.
  • Maintain cleanliness of residents’ bathrooms.
  • Clean soiled utility room.
  • Keep hallways clean.
  • Clean dining area.
  • Clean employee bathrooms.
  • Clean linen room.
  • Clean resident lounge.
  • Clean med room.
  • Clean kitchenette.
  • Clean RN Supervisors office.
  • Maintain elevators and stairways in a neat and clean manner.
  • Clean beds, wheelchair sand commodes on bath day.
  • Clean whirlpool and shower room.
  • Load and unload linen cart daily.
  • Extra assignments that need to be done periodically.
