About The Position

A warm family of four in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking a part-time or full-time housekeeper for their six-story brownstone, starting as soon as a suitable match is found. The property includes 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. The candidate must be comfortable around babies and toddlers and able to communicate about issues and questions over text throughout the day.

Requirements

Must have at least 5 years' verifiable experience
Must have superlative references
US passport, Green Card, or EAC
Candidates should be comfortable around toddlers and babies (e.g., not vacuuming during nap-time, awareness of sharp objects and cords, and able to coordinate with the family’s nanny about who is in what room when)
Candidates should be comfortable communicating over text messages about issues and questions with the mother, who works from home, and adjusting to her work schedule so as not to disturb meetings
Candidates should be reliable, honest, and trustworthy
Candidates must be COVID vaccinated, as well as be up to date on Flu/RSV/Tdap/MMR

Responsibilities

Housekeeping, deep cleaning, and general interior care
Laundering of clothes and linens; pressing/steaming as needed
Managing the inventory of household supplies, including breaking down boxes
Occasional cleaning of the outdoor kitchen and outdoor furniture
Sending out clothes to the dry cleaner and receiving them
Very basic food prep (e.g., washing and cutting fruit to store for kids, washing lettuce to store for salads, etc.)
Candidates must be comfortable climbing lots of stairs (with baby gates) in a six-story brownstone
Candidates must be comfortable adhering to specific cleaning protocols, including using very mild soap to clean sensitive Carrara marble, using a vacuum rather than a mop on wood floors, etc.
The family requires candidates to use provided natural and non-toxic cleaning supplies (i.e., no bleach and the provided baby-friendly laundry detergent)
