About The Position

The Housekeeper in a Hospital is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of all hospital areas to support patient care, infection prevention, and community health. The role often requires flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to perform multiple support tasks due to limited staffing and resources.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of cleaning, hygiene, and infection control practices
Ability to work with minimal supervision and limited resources
Physical ability to perform manual work for long hours
Willingness to assist in multiple support roles as needed
Respectful attitude toward patients, families, and community members
Ability to follow instructions and hospital safety rules
Basic literacy preferred

Nice To Haves

Prior housekeeping or healthcare facility experience is an advantage but not mandatory

Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect patient rooms, outpatient areas, wards, maternity units, toilets, offices, and common spaces
Follow infection prevention and control guidelines, especially in isolation or high-risk areas
Sweep, mop, scrub, and disinfect floors and surfaces using available cleaning materials
Collect, segregate, and dispose of medical and general waste according to hospital procedures
Clean and maintain basic hospital equipment, beds, stretchers, and furniture
Refill water, soap, disinfectants, and other essential supplies when required
Assist with laundry duties, including washing, drying, and folding linens (where applicable)
Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to supervisors
Support emergency cleaning needs, such as spills or patient discharge cleaning
Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times
