About The Position

This position involves performing a variety of environmental services to maintain assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition within a hospital setting. Key duties include inspecting and ensuring cleanliness, cleaning various hospital areas (patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, OR rooms, offices, and equipment) according to established procedures, removing trash, replenishing supplies like paper towels, toilet paper, and soap, and making beds in patient discharge and on-call rooms. The role also requires maintaining assigned equipment in working condition, reporting any issues to a supervisor, moving equipment and furniture, and adhering to all safety and sanitation regulations. For facilities with specialty accreditation, annual required education related to accreditation standards must be completed through various training methods.

Requirements

  • Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
  • Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment
  • Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.
  • Must have physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching and bending and operating floor equipment such as vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, buffers, etc.
  • Must meet Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
  • Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for an extended period of time

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and ensures that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair; report problems to the supervisor.
  • Cleans all assigned areas, including patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, OR rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
  • Removes trash from all assigned areas.
  • Replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
  • Makes beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
  • Maintains assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
  • Moves equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
  • Follows all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
