About The Position

The Housekeeper position at Elmwood Heights, located in Loves Parks, IL, is responsible for a wide array of cleaning and laundry duties across the campus, operating under the supervision of the Director of Facilities. This role is crucial for maintaining a clean and orderly environment, encompassing thorough cleaning of all assigned areas, assisting with kitchen and dining room sanitation, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of individual rooms, laundry rooms, linen closets, and housekeeping closets. Key tasks include sanitizing mattresses, changing bed linens, managing laundry for residents, and ordering necessary supplies. The Housekeeper is also tasked with identifying and reporting maintenance needs, such as repairs, floor stripping/waxing, and carpet shampooing. Collaboration with direct care staff and management is essential to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations regarding facility cleanliness and to uphold standards of confidentiality and conduct. The role requires active participation in household team discussions and proactive intervention in human rights concerns.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Valid drivers license/good driving record when specified.
  • No weight restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Reliable, prompt attendance.
  • Thorough cleaning of all assigned areas according to established schedule and procedures.
  • Assist with washing of breakfast, snack, and lunch dishes as needed.
  • Cleaning of kitchen and dining room.
  • Wiping off counter tops and tables.
  • Mopping floors.
  • In cooperation with the direct care staff, maintains individual’s rooms, laundry room, linen closet and housekeeping closet in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Sanitizes mattresses and changes bed linens according to established schedule and as necessary.
  • Orders new mattresses and linens when needed.
  • Assists direct care staff with laundry according to established procedures, as directed by your supervisor.
  • Counts, sorts and bags soiled linen when necessary for maintenance pick-ups.
  • Wipe off furniture and window sills as needed.
  • Dusting up high.
  • Move furniture to dust behind.
  • Clean windows and TV’s as needed.
  • Promptly records damaged and needed repairs in the house maintenance log.
  • Promptly requests needed stripping and waxing of floors and shampooing of carpet from the Maintenance Department.
  • Vacuums carpeted areas.
  • Returns clean, folded personal laundry to laundry cart for direct care staff to put away in individual’s bedroom as time permits.
  • Stocks paper and cleaning supplies on a daily basis, requesting extra supplies form the Maintenance Department according to schedule and as necessary.
  • Functions as a member of the household “team” establishing and maintaining effective communication with direct care staff.
  • In cooperation with management and direct care staff, ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations regarding the physical plant and cleanliness.
  • In compliance with established policy, maintains acceptable standards of confidentiality and conduct.
  • Meets with management and household staff to discuss problems and/or concerns, and demonstrates positive problem solving skills.
  • In compliance with Milestone policies and procedures regarding Human Rights, immediately intervenes on behalf of the individual in any questionable situation, and promptly reports questions or concerns to your supervisor.
  • Orders cleaning/household supplies for the homes on a weekly basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed by your supervisor to ensure the safe and effective functioning of the facility.
