Join us!” Job Description Summary The Housekeeper / Room Attendant performs duties in cleaning and servicing of guest rooms and baths under the supervision of the housekeeping supervisor(s) and Executive Housekeeper. The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall room cleanliness to ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance with the Autograph Collection standards under the Marriott franchise of Mainsail Lodging and Development. The Housekeeper / Room Attendant contributes to a positive guest experience by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation, responding promptly to guest requests, and communicating any service needs or concerns through appropriate channels. This is an on-call position with scheduling needs that fluctuate based on business demand, offering more hours during peak seasons and fewer hours during the off-season

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous hospitality experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a cleaning position
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to use technology, e.g., computers, tablets, iPads
  • Organizational skills
  • Proven experience in working quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to take initiative and handle assignments with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and elevate the cleanliness and presentation of assigned guest rooms by performing thorough cleaning and sanitizing, including dusting, vacuuming, changing bed linens, polishing mirrors and windows, cleaning bathrooms, vents, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces, while ensuring all areas meet the hotel’s exacting standards for guest comfort and satisfaction
  • Perform high-quality daily cleaning of assigned guest rooms and areas as directed by the Housekeeping Manager and Supervisor, ensuring all spaces remain clean, well-presented, and consistently meet established hotel cleanliness and presentation standards
  • Ensure guest areas remain presentable and meet cleanliness standards
  • Ensure that all items found in guest rooms or public areas are handled promptly and accurately according to Lost & Found procedures, maintaining accountability and guest trust
  • Replenish guest room amenities, including toiletries, minibar items, and room wares
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and special needs identified through trace reports, resumes, or direct communication to ensure personalized service and guest satisfaction.
  • Follow scheduled shifts, break and lunch requirements, and comply with company policies regarding missed punches, tardiness, and call out as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Compleat assigned daily special projects that support overall upkeeping and appearance
  • Assist with VIP arrivals as well as turndown services as requested by guests including towel decoration for wedding & special event guests to enhance their experience
  • Ensure rooms are cleaned safely using approved cleaning chemicals. All chemical bottles must be properly labeled with the manufacturer’s information and in accordance with hotel safety standards
  • Restock supplies and maintain cleaning equipment as needed, including refilling chemicals bottle at the end of the shift to ensure the next shift is stocked
  • Communicate with team members and leadership to coordinate daily assignments, report inventory and supply needs, and ensure all housekeeping tasks are completed in accordance with established standards
  • Adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, and operational standards, including the proper use of radios, the IVR system, and other required communication tools as part of daily housekeeping assignments.
  • Use assigned master key only for job-related tasks, following hotel key control policies to maintain guest and employee safety
  • Respect all guests, team members, and management by maintaining a positive, friendly attitude while following all hotel policies and procedures
  • Promptly report maintenance issues, technology concerns, and guest or employee safety matters, along with operational improvement suggestions, to Housekeeping management and follow all guidance and final decisions to ensure compliance with hotel standards.
  • Deliver exceptional guest services by greeting all guests warmly and professionally, both in person and through technology resources provided by the property
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the main department office and housekeeping work carts. Ensure all work areas and carts are free of personal items, contain only authorized hotel tools, linens, and products, and are organized according to hotel standards
  • Report any suspicious activity, unusual items, or irregular behavior from guests in public areas and/or in room
  • Follow all hotel policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbook and property or department specific policies/guidelines
  • Maintain a professional appearance by wearing assigned uniforms and proper clothing, including closed-toe shoes, appropriate for the assigned work area/positions
  • Other necessary duties as reasonably assigned by management
  • Ensure successful performance by assisting guests with exceptional experience to ensure high performing scores on the GSS (Guest Satisfaction Surveys) according to Marriott and Mainsail/Fenway standards.
