About The Position

Under general supervision, functions as a lead worker in maintaining building interiors, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness and attractive conditions are maintained in assigned areas. May be required to move furniture and equipment. This position is expected to report to work in emergency situations such as extreme weather when the campus may be closed. Authority and Accountability This position reports to Estella Kellam, Housekeeping Supervisor, and has two Housekeeper PINs and seven C1 Housekeeping Assistants reporting to it. The position has no budgetary authority or accountability.

Requirements

  • One year of housekeeping experience required.
  • Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examination to determine the ability to perform the job.
  • Must have skill in the use and maintenance of housekeeping tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations
  • Ability to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment
  • Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Ability to lift and transport supplies and refuse
  • Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment
  • Ability to provide guidance and training to others
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs., and do the following: walking, stooping, reaching, kneeling, climbing, standing, repetitive motion, twisting, bending, sitting, pushing, pulling, crawling.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
  • Two years of housekeeping experience is preferred but not required.
  • Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
