About The Position

Details: This position will work full-time, 40 hours per week. Team member will work from 7:00am until 3:30pm. Team member will be required to work rotating weekends and holidays. This position is eligible for shift pay differentials. Specializes in the ability to perform advanced cleaning and disinfection within high-acuity clinical and procedural areas. Demonstrates technical skill, attention to infection prevention protocols, and the mentors and supports the training of others. Supports patient safety through consistent, high-quality service and serve as a resource to peers across Environmental Services and the care team. Performs advanced, high-acuity cleaning and terminal disinfection in complex clinical and procedural areas, including but not limited to the Operating Room (OR), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Isolation Rooms. Applies specialized disinfection protocols and utilizes advanced cleaning tools in accordance with infection control standards and hospital policy. Conducts hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols. Proactively communicates and collaborates with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow. Serves as a subject matter expert in environmental services operations and infection prevention; acts as a resource to peers and leadership. Participates in quality improvement initiatives to improve cleanliness, service reliability, and patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Requires 2 years experience.
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
  • Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
  • Requires the ability to operate light floor equipment for cleaning floors in patient care areas.
  • Requires the ability to climb ladders.
  • Requires the ability to clean areas that require technical cleaning including IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED, and has demonstrated competency to train and onboard others.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) credentialing is preferred.
