About The Position

Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is an award-winning, certified, and accredited facility with 468 beds. As a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, Fort Sanders offers state-of-the-art care that maximizes recovery from stroke. We are also the region’s leader in technology in areas such as bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, and minimally invasive spine surgery. Our door-to-balloon times for heart attack patients are below the national average, and our hip fracture center offers advanced diagnosis, surgery, and recovery procedures for hip patients. The Housekeeper in Environmental Services is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings following established policies, procedures, and schedules to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital and related buildings. This position also involves stocking supplies in restrooms and other appropriate areas.

Requirements

  • None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill, and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
  • Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
  • Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request.
  • Performs daily check of assigned equipment for cleanliness and proper repair.
  • Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furnishings, buildings, and fixtures.
  • Removes waste and soiled linens from work area and places them in specified containers or bags.
  • Collects trash from utility rooms and other trash collection points and transports it to the compactor area.
  • Cleans trash cans and relines with plastic bags upon request.
  • Demonstrates proper handling of biohazardous wastes.
  • Monitors levels of supplies and equipment and notifies supervisor of need for additional supplies.
  • Performs personal inspection of all tasks performed/areas assigned.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Completes required education assignments annually.
  • Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
