About The Position

The Housekeeper II position at Blanchard Valley Hospital involves performing day-to-day housekeeping activities primarily in patient, visitor, and employee occupied areas. The role ensures that the facility is maintained in a neat, clean, and safe manner, complying with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations as instructed by the Manager of Environmental Services.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English to follow oral and written directions.
• Knowledge of simple mathematics for supply usage determination.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to operate Environmental Services equipment.
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Delivers a clean environment by performing the seven step cleaning method throughout the BVHA's facilities, including patient rooms, surgical suites, offices, and public areas.
• Cleans and sanitizes floors, medical equipment, and bed frames according to established procedures.
• Operates various mechanized cleaning equipment such as Kivac portable J-closet and commercial vacuum cleaners.
• Handles clean and soiled linens, retrieving and disposing of them in designated locations.
• Disposes of trash, waste, and other disposable materials using standard procedures.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, including listening, clear verbal communication, professionalism, and respect.
• Performs data entry, basic computer skills, and time management.
• Responds to identified emergency codes as a first responder.
• Inventories, restocks, and replenishes supplies as needed.
• Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies safely using good body mechanics.
• Submits departmental documentation within established time frames.
• Participates in educational activities, in-services, performance process improvement, accreditation process, and customer service.
