About The Position

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager, the Housekeeper is required to clean and disinfect all areas of the Hospital to meet required standards. The Housekeeper is also required to perform proper floor care and carpet maintenance, trash and linen removal, and all other duties assigned by the Manager. Job Type: Per Diem, Variable Shifts

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and write English and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Housekeeping experience and general knowledge of cleaning methods, products, equipment and techniques desired but not mandatory.
  • Must be physically able to perform all duties of this position, including lifting of heavy objects.
  • Must have temperament and willingness to perform routine and repetitive tasks, sometimes of a disagreeable and often physical nature.
  • Must have a minimum of one year experience in hard floor and carpet maintenance.
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Ability to Commute: Hollister, CA 95023 (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Performs all tasks in an independent manner.
  • Maintains a consistent high standard of cleanliness.
  • Maintains a consistent high standard of cleanliness in non-patient areas such as offices and utility areas.
  • Removes soiled linen and trash according to posted schedule, and as needed.
  • Carefully rechecks completed tasks ensure they have been completed according to the required standards.
  • Participates in all departmental training and education sessions held.
  • Is able to consistently assess varying situations, consider alternatives, and choose the best course of action.
  • Is aware of, and uses chemicals, supplies, and all equipment properly.
  • Has a working knowledge of other Housekeeping routines and functions beside his/her own assignment.
  • Demonstrates ability to assimilate methods and standards given in training to actual work practices.
  • Consistently completes duty lists, or given task assignments.
  • Coordinates activities and responsibilities to achieve maximum efficiency during shift.
  • Understands Hospital safety policies and procedures including MSDS sheets, Hospital emergency plans, and Housekeeping safety.
  • Diligently follows safety standards while working including wearing of gloves, eye goggles, wet floor signs, etc.
  • Operates electrical equipment safely, and keeps storage areas clean, neat, and free of debris.
  • Reports all safety hazards, faulty building maintenance, and breeches of Hospital security to Supervisor.
  • Maintains a good attendance record, and provides proper notification for absences.
  • Reports to work promptly at the start of each assigned shift.
  • Carefully monitors break and meal periods to ensure that allotted times are not exceeded.
  • Willingly adjusts personal schedule to complete or assist in work as required by emergencies, absences, or fluctuating workload.
  • Observes dress code at all times, and maintains a professional appearance.
  • Maintains a generally positive demeanor towards all patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Has ability to clearly communicate information.
  • Provides complete, accurate and timely information to Housekeeping Manager and co-workers.
  • Effectively receives and gives necessary information to other Hospital staff.
  • Exerts a positive influence on others, promotes working relationships, cooperation, and teamwork.
  • Actively cooperates with other Housekeeping staff.
  • Cooperates, as is necessary and required, with other Hospital staff.
  • Is able to take initiative, to things that need to be done, and do them without instruction from supervisor.
  • Assists in other work as required by emergencies, and fluctuating workload.
  • Assists in special projects as assigned.
