About The Position

The Housekeeper I is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital. This entry-level position performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to ensure patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas meet established cleanliness and infection control standards. The Housekeeper I plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Requirements

Physical ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience in a healthcare or hospitality setting is a plus but not required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques and the use of housekeeping equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

Perform daily cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, restrooms, offices, corridors, waiting areas, and other assigned areas following established housekeeping protocols.
Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors and surfaces to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, handrails, and furniture to prevent the spread of infection.
Remove trash, soiled linens, and biohazard waste from designated areas and dispose of them according to hospital policies and procedures.
Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, and hand sanitizers in patient rooms and common areas.
Follow infection control and safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of cleaning chemicals.
Report any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager.
Assist in preparing rooms for new admissions by making beds, changing linens, and restocking supplies.
Respond to housekeeping requests from staff and patients promptly and professionally.
Participate in ongoing training and development sessions to maintain knowledge of housekeeping best practices and safety standards.
Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.
