About The Position
Van Andel Institute (VAI), located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a world-class biomedical research institute dedicated to improving human health by fighting cancer, Parkinson's, and other diseases, and inspiring the next generation of scientists and educators. The Institute is home to nearly 500 scientists, educators, and support staff. The Facilities Department's mission is to create and maintain a 'Best in Class' facility that exceeds customer expectations by providing a clean, comfortable, and functional working environment. As a full-time Housekeeper, you will be responsible for ensuring the Institute maintains a neat, clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma/GED
- General housekeeping experience in an academic, hospital, medical office, or laboratory setting
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Responsibilities
- Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing floors
- Dusting (ceilings, vents, drapery, cubicles, stairwells etc.) and shampooing furniture
- Empty wastebaskets, recycling, cardboard etc.
- Utilizing various kinds of equipment, tools, cleaning materials and supplies
- Record supply inventory
- Room set up and special event set-up
- Other duties as assigned
