The Housekeeper I and II positions perform indirect patient care, which includes cleaning occupied and unoccupied patient areas and maintaining an environment that is hygienically clean and free of hazards for the well-being of patients, other associates, and self. The roles require an understanding and willingness to follow infection control, housekeeping department policies and procedures, and safety guidelines. Housekeepers need to be knowledgeable about the physical location of all departments (i.e., CCU - OB - ER - etc.) and handle all waste according to proper policies and procedures. They are responsible for cleaning and disinfecting areas using approved solutions, maintaining equipment, and requesting cleaning supplies as needed.
