About The Position

The EVS Specialist cleans and services wards, rooms, baths, laboratories, and offices; cleans, mops, dusts furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion; scours and polishes showers, tubs, sinks, mirrors, and similar equipment; replenishes supplies, cleans windows, keeps utility storage rooms in order by cleaning lockers equipment, arranging supplies and sweeping and mopping floors; working with laundry, such as putting it in laundry rooms and stocking carts, and perform a variety of other related duties.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and write and follow simple written and oral instructions in English.
• Cleaning experience is desirable, but not essential.
• Ability to use common house cleaning devices, such as brooms, mops, scouring pads, etc.
• Knowledge of how to care for equipment and measure cleaning solutions.

Nice To Haves

• Interest in helping people and a sincere desire to improve housekeeping knowledge and skills.
• Completion of six months of employment to achieve Certified Environmental Services Technician (CEST) qualification.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and services all internal aspects of the facility building.
• Performs routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis despite frequent interruptions.
• Respects the rights of patients.
• Promotes sanitary conditions to prevent the spread of infection and odors.
• Follows procedures for handling, cleaning, and disposing of materials that may be compromised by blood, infectious materials, or bodily fluids.
• Complies with regulations for handling cleaning solvents and chemicals.
• Reports needed repairs immediately to maintenance.
• Keeps director updated of any repair issues.
• Follows safety precautions in all housekeeping services.
• Assures that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
• Maintains regular attendance at the assigned work location.
