About the position
The Inns of the Corps Hawaii is a 24-hour hotel facility requiring 24/7 365 day a year staffing. The position involves making beds, changing sheets, towels, and other linens, and thoroughly cleaning guest rooms. Responsibilities include dusting, waxing, and polishing furniture, sweeping floors, vacuuming, and shampooing rugs, emptying wastebaskets, and sanitizing lavatories. The role also requires washing walls and windows, dusting drapes, blinds, and window coverings, turning mattresses, and sanitizing all fixtures and bedding with disinfectant. Each room must be serviced daily with soap, cups, coffee, etc. The employee will report missing or broken articles to the supervisor and may occasionally scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors using heavy powered scrubbers and buffers. The position emphasizes customer service, requiring the employee to assist customers positively and solve problems quickly while adhering to safety regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Make beds and change sheets, towels, and other linens.
- Thoroughly clean guest rooms including dusting, waxing, and polishing furniture.
- Sweep floors, vacuum, and shampoo rugs.
- Empty wastebaskets and sanitize lavatories.
- Wash walls and windows, dust drapes, blinds, and window coverings.
- Turn mattresses and sanitize all fixtures and bedding with disinfectant.
- Service each room daily with soap, cups, coffee, etc.
- Report missing or broken articles to supervisor.
- Occasionally scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors using heavy powered scrubbers and buffers.
- Wash and replace window coverings and ceiling fixtures.
- Move heavy furniture with assistance.
- Provide meaningful connections through customer service.
- Assist customers and communicate positively in a friendly manner.
- Take action to solve problems quickly.
- Adhere to safety regulations and standards.
- Report any observed workplace hazards and any injury or property damage.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of proper care and maintenance of carpets and furniture.
- Ability to handle and control heavy powered equipment.
- Knowledge of proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
- Ability to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces.
- Ability to read and understand directions on labels and printed instructions.
- Ability to anticipate needs of guests/clients.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be organized and able to multi-task.
