About The Position

The House Supervisor is a patient care provider. The primary role is ensuring patient care needs are met in accordance with administrative policies and procedures. This will be accomplished by assigning nursing and residential duties, monitoring nurse and residential services for quality and compliance, and managing patient and family complaints and grievances. In addition to fulfilling the duties of a RN as needed, this position will be responsible for ensuring nursing and residential teams have the resources, skills, and tools needed to follow best practices and provide safe and effective care to the patients at Moody.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of neurological disorders, post-acute rehab, and interdisciplinary care models.
  • Proven leadership, team building, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Requires flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, family members, and clinical staff in a hospital setting.
  • Current RN license in Texas
  • Minimum of Associate’s degree in nursing as an RN required
  • Minimum of one (1) year inpatient experience required; rehab, neurology, and/or ALF experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years nursing leadership experience preferred, as a charge nurse or higher.
  • RN training and education of staff experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site administrative and clinical leadership during specific shifts (often evenings, nights, or weekends).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff in the absence of the DON or Residential Manager.
  • Assist with patient assignments if updates are needed during shift for both nursing and residential teams.
  • Update patient census during specific shifts such as evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Check patients in and out of the facility, ensuring all medications and paperwork are secure, and ensuring safety of the patient upon return.
  • Checking patient cell phone in/out for patient use.
  • Rounding on patients to audit for accurate following of patient care plans such as toileting scheduling, supervision levels, and any tracking tools
  • Assist with orientation and training of nursing and residential staff, including skills check offs, to ensure best practices and regulatory compliance through practice and documentation.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained including infection control and reporting if repairs are needed. Includes all patient care equipment (such as BP machines, shower chairs, bladder scanner, etc.)
  • Assist with evaluating and monitoring nurse performance through audits and training.
  • Ensure documentation integrity in the electronic health record (EHR) and adherence to HIPAA and facility policies.
  • Assist with accuracy in order management and communication between pharmacy, case management, physicians, etc.
  • Identify problems in the nursing and residential departments, such as understaffing, absenteeism, and wastefulness, and take corrective action.
  • Initiate investigations for root cause analysis processes related to improving patient safety and outcomes, specifically in nursing care areas of responsibility.
  • Assist in development and monitoring of nursing supplies.
  • Resource for patient and family education in conjunction with nursing, clinical and direct care staff. This includes both informal and formal education as well as attendance at patient care meetings.
  • Function as a liaison between Medical Directors, Business Development, and the Program Directors to ensure Moody can meet the medical needs of the patients.
  • Coordinate with Residential and Clinical Managers for orientation and ongoing training and education needs provided by nursing department.
  • Assist with program development; helping identify appropriate equipment and ensuring appropriate staff education to be able to meet the needs of the populations served.
  • Support and assist in research efforts both of Moody employees and affiliates.
  • Assume RN responsibilities as needed, primarily at Houston and Galveston locations.
  • Assist with RN responsibilities in Lubbock location as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
