House Supervisors are accountable for care delivered in several clinical areas on a given assigned shift. House Supervisors advocate for and allocate available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate care based on current standards of practice. House Supervisors are clinical mentors and provide key clinical and administrative support and decision making in the absence of the Department Managers. House Supervisors promote shared decision making and professional autonomy by providing input to Nurse Managers, Department Directors and Executives by keeping staff informed of executive level and organization activities and vice versa. House Supervisors are role models for clinical practice. House Supervisors are accountable for fostering an environment that continuously supports improved patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • New York State Registered Nurse Licensee

  • Baccalaureate Degree
  • 2 years leadership experience
  • BLS, ACLS and Pals

Responsibilities

  • Accomplish human resource objectives by assisting with selecting, orienting, educating, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling staff; communicating job expectations, adhere to policies and procedures
  • Ensure continual delivery of high quality nursing care in collaboration with nursing managers and other directors.
  • Enforce adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements; measure health outcomes against standards
  • Meet nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements and collaborative engagement in improvements.
  • Liaising with patients, family members, and healthcare professionals to ensure quality care.
  • Patient/Family rounding, handle complaints or other issues
  • Respond to unusual events, emergencies (Cardiac arrest alert, STEMI Calls, Code Sepsis, Rapid Response ) and acts as advisor, assists as necessary
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff ; facilitates an atmosphere of interactive leadership and development of collegial relationships amongst all team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility, clinically competent and able to make decisions quickly.
  • Lead and collaborate with all levels of staff through difficult decisions, allocation of staff resources and patient placement.
  • Ability to effectively handle issues and remain calm in stressful situations and a ccomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplis hing new , different or unassigned
