About The Position

The House Supervisor at Hackensack Meridian Health is responsible for overseeing clinical and leadership functions in the Medical Center during the absence of unit managers and senior leadership. This role ensures safe and effective patient care after hours, on weekends, and holidays, while maintaining patient flow and continuity of care. The House Supervisor acts as a clinical resource, supervises staff, and leads Incident Command during emergencies, ensuring appropriate use of hospital resources and effective communication of unusual occurrences.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
• BSN or currently enrolled in a Baccalaureate Program.
• A minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience.
• Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skills.
• Demonstrates leadership competencies.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good basic knowledge of the nursing process, standards of care, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Maintains computer skills.
• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of milliman and/or interqual criteria, utilization review, discharge planning, and case management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical and leadership functions in the absence of unit managers and senior leadership.
• Ensure safe and effective patient care after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
• Assess all departments to maintain patient flow and assure continuity of care.
• Report pertinent information to management and administration.
• Provide supervision of staff in the delivery of care for patients.
• Serve as a clinical resource for staff.
• Assume leadership position for Incident Command until other qualified personnel arrive on-site.
• Respond to codes and rapid responses, deploying staff, supplies, and/or equipment as needed.
• Communicate unusual occurrences or complaints for follow-up and intervene immediately as needed.
• Review all patients admitted to the hospital to ensure appropriate use of hospital resources.
