About The Position

Ridgeview Institute Monroe is seeking an empathetic and dedicated Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join their treatment team. In this role, you will provide continuous care, supervision, and positive role modeling to patients across various age groups, from adolescents to geriatrics, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. The position is crucial for creating a therapeutic environment that supports patient well-being and positively impacts their overall treatment experience. Requirements

  • Certified Nursing or NAR required
  • Successful completion of CPR certification within 10 days of employment
  • Successful completion of crisis intervention training within 10 days of employment before assisting with restraining procedures

Nice To Haves

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, psychology, human services, or appropriate therapeutic discipline
  • One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with an understanding of mental illness

Responsibilities

  • Accurately record vital signs
  • Exercise judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the RN
  • Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for development and revision
  • Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use facility-approved CPI techniques
  • Assist patients through discharge, guide in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene
  • Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities
