About The Position

The House Manager / Residential Manager oversees the daily operations of a group home or supervised apartment serving adults with developmental disabilities. This position ensures compliance with Montana Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP) and Medicaid regulations, supervises direct care staff, and maintains a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment for all residents.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least two years of supervisory experience in residential or human services settings preferred.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities required.
Valid Montana driver’s license (if transporting residents).
CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within six months of hire).
Completion of all Montana DDP-mandated training prior to providing unsupervised services.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with transfers or mobility as needed.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
Ability to pass Montana DDP-required criminal background checks and exclusion screenings.
Reliable transportation.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the residence in accordance with Montana DDP and Medicaid guidelines.
Supervise, schedule, and support direct care staff (e.g., Residential Counselors, Direct Support Professionals) to ensure high-quality, person-centered service delivery.
Ensure implementation of Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
Monitor residents’ health, safety, and well-being; coordinate medical appointments, medication administration, and emergency responses.
Maintain accurate records, including staff schedules, resident documentation, incident reports, and medication logs, as required by Montana DDP.
Conduct regular home inspections to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations for staff in accordance with Montana DDP requirements.
Serve as a liaison between residents, families, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as needed.
Attend team meetings, participate in quality assurance activities, and pursue professional development opportunities.
Ensure high-quality, person-centered care and support for all residents.
Supervise, train, and evaluate staff to maintain compliance and promote professional growth.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation for residents and staff.
Uphold confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and Montana DDP regulations.
Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety protocols.
