About The Position

The House Manager / Residential Manager oversees the daily operations of a group home or supervised apartment serving adults with developmental disabilities. This position ensures compliance with Montana Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP) and Medicaid regulations, supervises direct care staff, and maintains a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment for all residents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in residential or human services settings preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities required.
  • Valid Montana driver’s license (if transporting residents).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within six months of hire).
  • Completion of all Montana DDP-mandated training prior to providing unsupervised services.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with transfers or mobility as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
  • Ability to pass Montana DDP-required criminal background checks and exclusion screenings.
  • Reliable transportation.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the residence in accordance with Montana DDP and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Supervise, schedule, and support direct care staff (e.g., Residential Counselors, Direct Support Professionals) to ensure high-quality, person-centered service delivery.
  • Ensure implementation of Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Monitor residents’ health, safety, and well-being; coordinate medical appointments, medication administration, and emergency responses.
  • Maintain accurate records, including staff schedules, resident documentation, incident reports, and medication logs, as required by Montana DDP.
  • Conduct regular home inspections to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations for staff in accordance with Montana DDP requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between residents, families, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Attend team meetings, participate in quality assurance activities, and pursue professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure high-quality, person-centered care and support for all residents.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate staff to maintain compliance and promote professional growth.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for residents and staff.
  • Uphold confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and Montana DDP regulations.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety protocols.
