About The Position

The Housekeeping Houseperson provides support and service for the Room Attendants and maintains cleanliness throughout the hotel. This role involves maintaining complete knowledge of and complying with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards, as well as the correct maintenance and use of equipment. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including day and night.

Requirements

  • The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.
  • Flexible schedule - willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided).

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or equivalent education preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years previous experience in a similar position in a luxury hotel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards, and correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Assist Room Attendants with stripping vacant rooms including soiled linen and terry and trash as needed at the discretion of management and/or supervisor.
  • Deliver miscellaneous goods and supplies to guest rooms and deliver linen and supplies to guest floors.
  • Shampoo hallways, rooms, and public areas.
  • Remove dirty linen from guest floors.
  • Remove trash from work areas to the loading dock/dumpster and remove trash and linen from cleaning carts.
  • Clean elevator car and tracks.
  • Sweep and wash floors, vacuum carpet, wash walls, dust furniture and fixtures and clean ashtrays.
  • Make up and deliver roll-a-way beds.
  • Move furniture, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor.
