About The Position

General assembly and machine operators ("GMO") are expected to operate high speed machine tools for fabricating, assembling and/or manufacturing automotive or automotive related parts. These jobs include some degree of monitoring the manufacturing / assembly process and recording the results.

Requirements

  • Basic math, reading, and analytical skills to understand blueprints, models, and schematics.
  • Basic problem-solving skills to diagnose machine performance issues and fix errors.
  • Attention to detail to work with precision equipment and avoid sub-quality parts.
  • Physical stamina to conduct repetitive and labor-intensive tasks, including standing/walking for up to 12 hours a day and lifting 20-35 pounds.
  • Ability to perform various physical activities such as bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level.

Responsibilities

  • Operate high speed machine tools for fabricating and assembling automotive parts.
  • Monitor the manufacturing and assembly process and record results.
  • Work with computer-controlled equipment or mechanically based machines to produce required parts.
  • Check designated machines and equipment for problems.
  • Perform maintenance tasks to ensure no errors occur with respect to materials produced.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure parts pass quality standards.
  • Check and prepare raw materials needed for machine operation and load them appropriately.
  • Read and decipher blueprints and execute safe machine operation practices.
