About The Position
Houck Services, Inc., a prominent Commercial and Industrial Specialty Contractor, is seeking skilled sheet metal roofers to join our dedicated Sheet Metal Roofing Department. This position requires a solid understanding of roofing basics and processes, particularly as they pertain to the installation of sheet metal. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the field, demonstrating proficiency in fabricating and installing various types of sheet metal across different roof types. In this role, you will be expected to work comfortably at extreme heights, navigate steep slopes, and walk on purlins and steel structures. You will operate standard roofing equipment, including buggies, generators, and tractors, while ensuring efficiency in installation tasks such as gluing and rolling out EPDM products. Safety is paramount; therefore, you must understand and implement safe working practices both in the shop and in the field. The position also requires you to possess and proficiently use essential tools such as tape measures, combination squares, snips, hand seamers, pop-rivet guns, utility knives, and chalk lines. You will be responsible for soldering safely and effectively, fabricating and installing various roofing components, and maintaining a clean construction site to eliminate potential hazards. Familiarity with different roofing systems, including shingle, EPDM, heat-welded, cold process, and hot applied systems, is essential. Additionally, you will be tasked with loading and unloading trucks, erecting scaffolding, setting up ladders, and working from aerial equipment as necessary. You will receive instructions from your supervisor and are expected to adhere to all OSHA and Houck safety guidelines while maintaining a constant state of alertness and safety throughout your work.
