About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer is a critical part of our hotel leadership team, responsible for maintaining the building itself and helping to train other leaders and associates on building-related tasks and emergency procedures. Requirements

  • A positive attitude and a commitment to working as a team to deliver excellent service.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about building maintenance, with at least 1-2 years of maintenance or construction trade experience.
  • Natural ability to work independently and a skilled problem solver.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Some computer skills required.
  • Able to prioritize and organize tasks while managing multiple projects at once.
  • Able to handle stressful, high-pressure situations and conflict in a calm, professional manner.
  • Flexible schedule (weekend/holiday availability are required).
  • Physically able to perform all responsibilities including but not limited to standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to successfully pass a drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Complete expected maintenance tasks outlined on daily, weekly and monthly checklists, and propose updates to these documents as needed to protect the asset and guest experience.
  • Address and respond to maintenance-related work orders with appropriate urgency based on the nature of the issue and whether it impacts guests or team members.
  • Encourage other team members to be the “eyes and ears” of maintenance, engaging them regularly and praising them for following the work order process.
  • Perform quarterly preventative maintenance on each guest room, and PM other hotel areas and systems as outlined in hotel documentation, coordinating with housekeeping as appropriate.
  • Understand all hotel mechanical, electrical, plumbing and IT systems to perform basic troubleshooting and understand when to ask for help.
  • Work with contractors as needed to address issues that cannot be handled internally, requesting bids and obtaining approval from the General Manager before agreeing to proposals.
  • Maintain the condition and cleanliness of the parking lot and exterior landscaping, assisting with landscaping, trash pickup, snow removal, etc. as needed or directed by management.
  • Complete, organize and maintain all maintenance- and building-related logs as required by brand standards, government regulations and management.
  • Train associates and other leaders on all aspects of building-related emergency procedures, ensuring all staff are appropriately prepared to deal with emergency situations.
  • Lead by example by fully understanding and adhering to the processes and procedures we expect our associates and other leaders to adhere to, especially around guest service, work habits, using checklists and SOPs, and emergency procedures.
  • Complete and retain training as directed by managers/trainers, including brand training, company training and in-person instruction. Note taking is encouraged.
  • Attend all mandatory hotel and company meetings including weekly leader virtual meetings.
  • Handle other responsibilities as needed/directed by hotel management.
