Hotel Maintenance Engineer
About The Position
The DoubleTree Hotel by the Galleria is seeking a Maintenance Engineer. This role requires individuals with at least two years of engineering or maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel, hospital, apartment, or office building setting, who are also adept at guest engagement. The position involves performing preventative maintenance in guest rooms and other hotel areas, assisting with minor electrical repairs, and undertaking major repairs on various hotel equipment including kitchen, laundry, boilers, HVAC, and plumbing systems. Responsibilities also extend to pool maintenance (chemicals, filters) and exterior building upkeep (lawn care, power washing, de-icing). The successful candidate must be flexible to work various shifts, including mornings, mid-shifts, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, and be capable of performing significant physical tasks.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to communicate in English both verbal and written
- At least two (2) years previous engineering/maintenance experience in hotel, hospital, apartment or office building
- Flexible to work AM, mid-shift, PM, overnight, weekends and holidays
- Able to use computer or tablet
- Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, stand on feet for at least eight (8) hours and able to lift, push or pull 25 lbs. to 75 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, H.V.A.C., boilers
- Experience in painting, drywall, calking and carpentry
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms and assigned areas of the hotel
- Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting systems, and make minor repairs and/or replacement
- Assist with major repairs of all hotel equipment including small appliances, kitchen and laundry equipment, boilers, HVAC, hand and power tools and general plumbing systems
- Assist with servicing the pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning/changing filters
- Maintain the building exterior to include lawn care, power washing, spreading salt for icy conditions
- Respond to guest calls regarding maintenance issues in guest rooms and fix the issue
