About The Position

The General Manager (GM) of Venice Inn is a hands-on, results-driven leader responsible for the overall operation, profitability, and guest experience of the hotel. The GM ensures smooth day-to-day operations, motivates and manages staff, maintains property standards, and delivers exceptional service aligned with management/owner expectations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Hotel General Manager or similar role (3+ years preferred).
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations, financial management, and staff supervision.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Operations & Financial Management Oversee all hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and back-office functions.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to maximize profitability.
  • Monitor daily revenue, occupancy, and expenses to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Implement cost-control measures without compromising guest experience.
  • Guest Experience & Service Excellence Maintain the highest standards of guest service and satisfaction.
  • Handle guest complaints and ensure timely resolution to maintain positive reviews and repeat business.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure cleanliness, safety, and overall property standards.
  • Staff Leadership & Development Recruit, hire, train, and mentor hotel staff, fostering a positive, productive, and accountable work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching to ensure staff growth.
  • Create staffing schedules that optimize efficiency and operational coverage.
  • Sales & Marketing Support marketing efforts to drive occupancy, including digital marketing, promotions, and local partnerships.
  • Collaborate with corporate or ownership on sales strategies and initiatives.
  • Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and labor laws.
  • Maintain hotel security, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Hands-On Responsibilities Actively participate in daily hotel operations, including front desk coverage, housekeeping checks, and guest interactions.
  • Step in as needed to resolve operational issues promptly.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating strong work ethic and commitment to quality service.
