About The Position

Cardinal FG, a float glass manufacturer for residential windows in Portage, is looking for a Hot End Production Technician who work safely, have a strong work ethic, is dependable, has a positive attitude, and work effectively in a small team environment. A Hot End Technician works closely with the melting process of raw materials, makes adjustments to the furnace for proper melting of materials, uses cameras and computers to precisely make the glass into the appropriate width and thickness, and monitors the cooling process of the glass before it is scored into different sizes. This position’s primary schedule is a 12-hour ROTATING shift, working 3 or 4 shifts/week.  This schedule provides every other weekend off, only working half the days of the year.  What Cardinal-Portage has to offer: Competitive Starting Base Wage with increases at 6-month intervals Rotating Day/Night Shift Average Base Wage - $23.75/hour average Day Shift Base Wage - $22.75/hour Night Shift Base Wage - $24.75/hour Paid at day and night rates appropriately when worked Monthly Profit-Sharing plan - earn up to an additional $1,976/month through 401(k) savings and/or check. Requirements

  • Operate power industrial vehicles, once trained and certified
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be 18 years of age to apply
  • High school diploma or its equivalent preferred
  • Basic math, computer and tape measuring skills
  • Able to safely lift at least 80 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, twist, squat, kneel, or stand for long periods of time
  • Clear understanding of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Pass a pre-employment physical ability test, background check, and drug screen
