About the position

The Hot Deli Clerk at 99 Ranch Market is responsible for assisting in the preparation and presentation of food items in the deli section. This role involves ensuring food safety, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service while managing stock and displays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of all food items, including washing, cutting, and weighing as needed.
• Transfer or withdraw various stocks, supplies, and food ingredients to and from storage.
• Monitor expiration dates of products and ensure proper stock rotation.
• Maintain cleanliness of the food production area, including dishwashing and sanitation of equipment.
• Follow food safety practices and comply with OSHA safety regulations.
• Handle expired and recalled products properly and keep accurate logs.
• Set up and take down displays for promotional products and ensure shelf tags are labeled correctly.
• Keep aisles and common areas clean to prevent injury.
• Assist customers with their orders and answer questions.
• Follow cash handling procedures and complete the check-out process accurately.

Requirements

• Previous kitchen, culinary, deli, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
• Working knowledge of types of ingredients, vegetables, and meats in the department.
• Good customer service skills.
• Good time management skills.
• Ability to visually identify product quality and freshness.
