Basic Job Function :To check tables, assist waithelp with service if necessary, help bus and set tables; greets and seats guests and issues menus; may sell and package bakery items; is responsbilie for proper and accurate issuing, pricing, recording and receipt of payment for food and beverage chits in a friendly and courteous manner; settlement of checks; tallies and turns in daily receipts; prepares meal recap reports; and is responsible for a bank. Essential Functions : Meets and greets guests as they arrive, offers choice of seating, then escorts them to their table and presents menu. At the end of the meal, bids a warm farewell to all guests, thanks them, asks them to return to the restaurant. Receives and visually inspects guest check for any inaccuracies, then closes the check to the proper method of payment (i.e. cash, credit card or house charge). Reads, maintains and makes daily entries in the log book to coordinate communication between shifts and management. Receives, records and makes any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant. Memorizes the daily station assignments and the names of staff members. Ascertains guest satisfaction. In the event of dissatisfaction, refers the incident to the manager. Complies with accounting guideline regarding receipt of payments, checks total verification, tip disbursement, cash drawer and house bank management. Balances house bank at the end of the shift. Retrieves and returns bank from vault to workstation and return, to ensure accountability. Maintains knowledge of food items offered on a daily basis and accurately communicates same to guests upon request. Additional Duties and Responsibilities : Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to the Security Department. Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations. Respond to guest questions. Provide guest assistance, direction and information as requested when working in public areas. Maintains an open line of communication between guests, management and line employees. Carry coffee and/or tea pots throughout outlet, refilling guests’ cups as requested. Sorting and racking glassware, chinaware and utensils. Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by the supervisor to adhere to health standards. Busses and resets tables as necessary; assists Waithelp in providing service to guests. Assists in cocktail order taking when necessary. Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.
