About The Position

The Role: The Host oversees the front-of-house greeting, reservation, and guest-seating experience for all dining outlets at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach. This role ensures seamless coordination between reservations, seating, and service teams, while maintaining the warm, playful, and high-touch hospitality The Standard is known for. The Host acts as the first impression of the venue, managing the flow of guests with professionalism and poise, optimizing table turns, and ensuring each guest feels genuinely welcomed. They assist management in supervising hosts, coordinating large reservations, and partnering closely with service leaders to maintain a smooth, guest-focused operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 years of experience as a Host or Lead Host in a high-volume, upscale or lifestyle hospitality venue (Miami Beach experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with reservation platforms (SevenRooms, OpenTable, Resy, or equivalent).
  • Full schedule flexibility including holidays, weekends, & night shifts.
  • Supervisory experience or proven leadership skills within a front-of-house team.
  • Exceptional ability to create a welcoming and organized first impression; confident in managing high guest volume and VIPs.
  • Strong understanding of pacing, flow, and maximizing seating efficiency.
  • Professional, clear, and approachable communication style with guests and team members.
  • Excellent multitasking and time-management abilities; strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of POS systems, reservation software, and hotel guest integration platforms.
  • Commitment to maintaining The Standard’s brand of service; playful yet polished.
  • Fluent English required; Spanish preferred.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8+ hours per shift.
  • Occasional bending, lifting, or moving items up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequent walking, turning, and reaching.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and variable temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily reservations and seating charts to maximize efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Manage host scheduling throughout property outlets.
  • Liaise with F&B Managers and Hotel Guest Experience team to anticipate and accommodate guest needs.
  • Handle VIPs, large parties, and special requests with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ensure host stand and entry areas are clean, organized, and visually aligned with The Standard aesthetic.
  • Ensure all menus are properly updated and perfectly presentable for guests.
  • Act as liaison between the host stand and management for any operational or guest-related issues.
  • Train and mentor new hosts; monitor performance and provide feedback.
  • Communicate table statuses and pacing updates with servers and management throughout service.
  • Support the F&B Manager with shift reports, daily cover counts, and guest feedback tracking.
  • Maintain knowledge of hotel programming, events, specials, and membership offerings to inform and engage guests.
  • Participate in pre-service briefings and ensure accurate communication of reservations, allergies, and special notes.
  • Uphold The Standard’s service sequence and guest interaction expectations.
  • Recognize returning guests and anticipate preferences.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns gracefully, escalating when appropriate.
  • Continuously look for ways to elevate the arrival and departure experience.
