About The Position

Position Summary: The main functions of the Host/Hostess are to facilitate the prompt and accurate seating and service of all guests, accept payment for food and beverages, and make proper change and helps servers in assuring quality customer service. Accountabilities: The host/hostess must meet and greet guests in a warm friendly manner, making them feel comfortable and welcome in our establishment. Must be organized and have the ability to prioritize and keep control and smile when pressure arises.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a restaurant setting preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of Food and Beverage procedures and serving standards.
  • Knowledge of Health Department rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English.
  • Long hours are sometimes required.
  • Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body and arms, stand and/or walk for lengthy periods of time.
  • Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey & understand information and ideas in English.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations, while maintaining composure
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to use a calculator, computer, credit card authorization machine, cash register, touch screen monitor, printer, carbonated beverage dispenser, juice machine and related equipment, carpet sweeper and vacuum.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner.
  • Provide guests with menus.
  • Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs.
  • Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
  • Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper set up.
  • Receive and record patrons dining reservations.
  • Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, and serving staff to ensure that the dining details are handled properly.
  • Be aware of guests’ needs, assist in providing a pleasant dining experience. Ensure satisfaction with food and service to respond to complaints.
  • Collect money or credit cards from guests and servers as needed.
  • Accurately complete daily cash out report.
  • Other duties as required.
