About The Position
The Dining Room Seating Host plays a crucial role in providing a welcoming atmosphere for guests at the restaurant. This position requires a warm, friendly demeanor as the host greets guests and escorts them to their tables, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from the moment they arrive. The host assists the Head Host with managing reservations and seating arrangements, while also communicating important guest requests to servers and management. This role is essential in maintaining the flow of service and ensuring that guests feel valued and attended to throughout their visit. In addition to greeting and seating guests, the host is responsible for various essential functions that contribute to the overall dining experience. This includes collecting and inspecting menus for cleanliness, recycling soiled menus, and organizing reusable ones. The host must also thank departing guests and offer a warm farewell, reinforcing the restaurant's commitment to excellent customer service. Communication is key in this role, as the host must relay information accurately between the Head Host, management, and the serving staff, ensuring that all guest requests are fulfilled promptly. The host is also tasked with completing various opening duties, such as cleaning public areas, disposing of garbage, and sanitizing high chairs and booster seats. They must monitor table status and inform the Head Host of table availability, as well as record data related to server counts and meal reports. The host should be knowledgeable about the operating hours of all food and beverage outlets and be able to answer guest questions with accurate information. Preparing seating assignments before each meal period and handling guest requests or complaints are also part of the host's responsibilities. Overall, the Dining Room Seating Host must maintain a professional work area, adhere to grooming standards, and present a positive image to customers while demonstrating flexibility in their work schedule.
