Job Summary: The Host / Hostess oversees Front of House operations and assists customers such as responding to inquiries, resolving issues or concerns. The Host / Hostess has the primary objective of driving the vision for company and customer standards. The Host / Hostess is accountable for shaping and delivering the business’s production in order to drive the overall performance of the department. The Host / Hostess balances company and customer demands with delivery and execution. The Host / Hostess ensures that our products and services meet all necessary requirements before they reach the consumer. The Host / Hostess oversees cost effectiveness, productivity, and the provision of company and customer demands that nurture continuous improvement. The Host / Hostess is responsible for implementing quality assurance principles and practices throughout the company. As a Host / Hostess you will be responsible for greeting and seating all customers to maximize dining room space and waitstaff effectiveness. Use electronic reservation system to track customers reservations. Additionally, responsible for maintaining the Host / Hostess station with a clean appearance and assist in replenishing menus, mints and business cards are kept up in addition to paper in the bathrooms. Ability to answer a multi-line office telephone and have a keen attention to detail to track guest reservations. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality. Seats guests and manages the seating chart. Monitors restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow. Responds to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner. Performs opening and closing duties, as needed. Receives payments by validating credit charges; approving checks; accepting currency; calculating and issuing change for ToGo orders. Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Establishes and oversees the adoption of the support department’s vision, goals and objectives at all levels. Monitor and resolve issues. Direct workload distribution. Managing both internal and external relationships on behalf of the department. Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, supervisors, and senior management. Communicate job expectations. Identify, acknowledge, motivate, and lead by example for employees. Duties/Responsibilities: Answer the phone and input customer reservations into the computer Make daily calls to customers to confirm their upcoming reservations Greet incoming and departing Guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact Escort them to assigned dining area; present menus; announce waiter's name Seat customers according to the established plan that ensures all waitstaff gets filled tables Keep front desk and waiting area clean Ensure takeout menus, mints and cards remain stocked Refill paper products in bathrooms, as needed Help waitstaff by getting water for customers, as needed Seating guests and managing reservations. Inform Guest of current promotion and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff Manage the flow of Guests into the Dining and Bar areas Provide accurate wait times to incoming Guests if appropriate Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water; serving beverages A team player with a positive attitude Quick and flexible learner Attention to detail Communication and collaboration skills Manage direct reports.
