About the position
The Host position at Rohr's, Morris Inn is a part-time role focused on providing exceptional hospitality and customer service to guests. The host will be responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a smooth dining experience. This role is integral to the operations of the Morris Inn, contributing to the overall guest experience and supporting the university's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests as they arrive.
- Gather information for front and back of house team members and guest seating.
- Optimize the dining experience by pacing the service team and managing the dining room.
- Present the menu and communicate with servers regarding seated tables.
- Answer phones according to service standards and ask relevant questions.
- Document details in guests' reservation accounts (OpenTable).
- Introduce valet app to guests when applicable.
- Confirm reservations with guests and update their experience profiles.
- Execute all guest interactions with professionalism, grace, and friendliness.
- Alert servers about special notes in reservations, including allergies and special occasions.
- Send VIP emails to hotel leaders for the following day.
- Write thank you cards for previous day reservations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to stand for long periods during the shift.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous host/hostess experience.
- Excellent phone skills and dictation.
