About The Position

Position Summary & Purpose:  The First & Last Impression of The Restaurant. Presents a positive impression of the restaurant’s friendliness, excellent service and high standards by greeting every guest on arrival and escort guests to a table.  Provide the guest with menus and manage seating according to guest requests and established rotation standards.

Requirements

  • High School education or G.E.D. preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous upscale, fine dining restaurant or hotel restaurant host experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Know your work schedule and follow it with a high degree of reliability.
  • Interact with patrons, guests, clients, vendors, and co-workers in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
  • Perform your job according to standard operating procedures.
  • Read, understand and follow all policies, procedures and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook.
  • Implement resort/restaurant safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e. evacuation, first aid, etc.) to include removing all safety hazards, following OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.
  • Utilize protective equipment, when applicable.
  • Promptly report accidents, injuries, property damage or loss to supervisor.
  • Promptly report substandard (unsafe) conditions to supervisor.
  • Keep accurate communication flowing freely among all hotel departments.
  • Inform management promptly of any work-related problems or guest complaints.
  • Maintain professional, amicable relationships with all resort departments, managers, and staff, as well as vendors, and community and professional contacts.
  • Promote excellent guest service throughout the resort by demonstrating friendly, courteous and helpful attitudes toward all guests.
  • Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
  • Train and supervise other employees as directed by management.
  • Continue to learn and grow in your position.
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management.
  • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
  • Arrange for reasonable accommodations for person(s) with disabilities.
  • Assist person(s) with a disability.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, local laws and ordinances
  • Clock in / out on two devices

  • Maintains a cheerful, courteous disposition and a neat, clean and professional image
  • Performs reservation responsibilities
  • Take reservations and enter them into logbook
  • Arranges for booster seats or high-chairs, if needed
  • Escorts guests to designated table by rotation as soon as possible, presents menus to each guest once they are seated
  • Notifies Manager/Supervisor of any guest that is perceived to be unhappy
  • Keep accurate communication with co-workers
  • Bids farewell to guests as they leave. Ensure everything was satisfactory and invites guest to return
  • Attend all training classes and meetings
  • Answer phone within two rings and answer question accordingly
  • Contact management immediately regarding occurrences e.g. Police, Fire Department, Health Inspector, accidents for fights
  • Arrange for reasonable accommodations for person (s) with disabilities
  • Keeps host/hostess station clean and well organized. Ensure all menus are clean, restocks necessary supplies
  • Understand and respond to customer requests for assistance
  • Communicate guests needs to Servers, Bussers, Managers, etc
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objective of the position
  • Provides a favorable image of the company at all times and to foster and enhance public recognition
  • Be a team player: help out fellow Associates when possible.
