About the position

Gyu-Mai Japanese BBQ is seeking a friendly and professional Host to serve as the first point of contact for guests at our authentic Japanese BBQ restaurant. The Host will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring that every guest enjoys a pleasant dining experience from arrival to departure. This position is available for both part-time and full-time schedules, with the restaurant set to open in early December.

Responsibilities

• Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, setting a positive tone for their dining experience.
• Manage and organize reservations and waitlists, providing accurate wait times as necessary.
• Escort guests to their tables, ensuring a smooth and organized seating arrangement.
• Answer guest inquiries about the restaurant, menu, and dining experience.
• Assist with take-out orders and phone inquiries as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
• Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to optimize guest flow and ensure a seamless dining experience.
• Uphold restaurant standards for hospitality, presentation, and guest service.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Host or in a customer service role is preferred but not required.
• Friendly and outgoing personality with strong communication skills.
• Ability to manage reservations and waitlists efficiently and accurately.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple tasks.
• Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable) is a plus.
• A positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
