About The Position

The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant and is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and organized dining experience. This position manages guest seating, wait lists, and reservations while ensuring smooth communication between guests, servers, and management. The Host/Hostess plays a key role in maintaining guest satisfaction by providing friendly service, managing dining room flow, and ensuring guests feel valued and welcomed.

Requirements

  • Previous customer service or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with a strong focus on guest service.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during busy periods.
  • Basic computer or reservation system knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to move quickly and safely throughout the dining room.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly and warmly upon arrival.
  • Manage guest seating according to server rotation, table availability, and guest preferences.
  • Maintain and manage the reservation system and wait list.
  • Provide accurate wait time estimates and keep guests informed of delays.
  • Escort guests to tables and present menus when appropriate.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist with reservations and guest inquiries.
  • Communicate effectively with servers, bussers, and kitchen staff regarding table status and guest needs.
  • Monitor dining room flow to maximize seating efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the dining room when needed.
  • Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
  • Address minor guest concerns and escalate issues to management when necessary.
  • Follow all company service standards, policies, and safety procedures.
