About The Position

Requirements

  • Effective listening skills and the ability to follow through with directions.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English effectively and perform basic math.
  • Basic computer skills and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to work under stress of deadlines, work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Schedule must permit early morning or evening shifts, as well as days, weekends, and holiday shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous diet office experience.
  • Basic knowledge of therapeutic diets.

Responsibilities

  • Strives to provide an excellent patient food service experience with compassion, tact, cheerfulness, accuracy, patience, and flexibility in scheduling.
  • Responsible for documenting the time and location of tray deliveries using manual or electronic systems.
  • Takes meal orders using an iPad and Room Service Connect, assisting patients who are unable to call.
  • Picks up soiled trays from patient rooms and dirty utility areas after meal service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including tray assembly, prepping food, dishwashing, and relieving Call Center and Room Service Line staff during breaks.
  • Familiar with all menu offerings, diet variations, and specifics of what may be ordered by patients based on physician-prescribed diets.
  • Documents food and fluid intake of patients.
  • Covers some duties in the dish room.
  • Acts as the key personal contact between the Food & Nutrition services department and the patient.
  • Delivers trays to patients in a 'round robin' manner, responsible for picking up trays.
  • Complies with food handling standards and regulations.
  • Assists with training of new staff as requested.
