About The Position

The Host/Cashier maintains the restaurant-seating chart and ensures that guests are evenly distributed throughout open stations. They greet guests at the entrance and seats them as quickly as possible. They assist the management staff in the coordination of all employees to ensure efficient service to the guests; and to perform job responsibilities satisfactorily and to according to department standards. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1- year of hotel/restaurant Host experience
  • Must maintain a friendly, professional demeanor and work effectively with all team members.
  • Demonstrates clear verbal, listening, and written communication to ensure smooth guest interactions and accurate information sharing.
  • Must be neat, clean, and well-groomed at all times to represent the establishment positively.
  • Familiar with the menu, preparation procedures, and pricing to answer guest questions confidently and accurately.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations for billing, change, and split checks accurately.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Clark County Health Card
  • Valid Las Vegas Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card)
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (five hours or more).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, upscale environment.
  • Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires eye/hand coordination.
  • May require basic math with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
  • Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS) and other instructions.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly at the door, assess their needs, and seat them according to established guidelines.
  • Ensure dining room employees know their assigned stations and partners. Distribute guests evenly across sections and adjust seating based on service levels.
  • Implement dining room break schedules and administer work schedules as directed by management.
  • Accurately handle money, process payments (cash, credit, room charges), and operate the POS system (Micros) in compliance with hotel cash handling procedures.
  • Maintain guest focus while performing duties. Periodically check with guests to ensure satisfaction and assist staff with taking food and non-alcoholic beverage orders when needed.
  • Notify management of any dining room issues. Follow directions carefully and seek clarification when necessary.
  • Move throughout the restaurant during the entire shift to monitor guest needs and support team operations.
