About The Position

Julie's Park Cafe in Fish Creek is looking for a Host Captain to lead our hosts in our cafe. The captain position is full time from May - Oct and part time Nov - Feb. (March and most of April the cafe is closed) Our cafe is open 6:59 am - 3:01 pm so you will have your evenings free.

Requirements

• 1-2 years hosting experience preferred
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
• Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in the predominant language(s) of our guests
• Must have exceptional grooming habits
• Like to be in a leadership role
• Friendly, upbeat, like working with people, interested in giving them a memorable experience

Responsibilities

• Open front of the house
• Ensure guests are being taken care of well and in a timely manner
• Keep hosts on task and make sure they know their responsibilities and that they complete them
• Perform voids or computer changes as staff necessitates
• Seek side projects for staff during down time
• Provide feedback to front manager on host performance
• Check sidework for completion and quality at the end of shift
• Close register, check closing, turn off everything & lock up cafe
• Perform host/hostess duties
• Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival
• Open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible
• Record guest names and number of people in party when immediate seating is limited
• Alert guests when tables become available
• Provide guests with estimated waiting time
• Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible
• Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations
• Inspect tables for proper presentation and completeness
• Offer guests a menu and inform them of their server's name upon seating
• Tell guests the specials & soup of the day
• Relay messages to servers as needed
• Make specialty beverages for servers as tickets mandate
• Serve bakery as tickets mandate
• Deliver baked goods and beverages to tables if time allows
• Assist servers in cleaning & restocking tables
• Check guests out and inquire about experience
• Find a manager if a customer is unhappy about something
• Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
