About The Position

The Second City is dedicated to entertaining, inspiring, and transforming through innovative live experiences. The B2B side, Second City Works, has brought award-winning improvisation techniques to over 600 Fortune 1000 companies, helping businesses innovate through development programs and original content. The Host position is responsible for warmly greeting guests, processing tickets, seating guests, maintaining accurate seating records, and assisting with coat check duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Available to work a variety of hours, days, and shifts, including weekends.
  • Ability to communicate in English in order to perform and follow job requirements.
  • Ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels.
  • Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the theaters.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with others and be a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and seat guests in the theater, making them comfortable with small conversation.
  • Assist with messages and ticketing questions.
  • Safely and effectively move chairs, tables, highchairs, and booster seats.
  • Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and anticipate guests’ needs.
  • Use tact and good judgment when dealing with guest challenges.
  • Assist with clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables.
  • Understand and respond knowledgeably to questions about the theaters, ticketing, and menu offerings.
  • Follow all steps of service.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment.
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.
  • Successfully complete alcohol awareness training.
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures, and conditions of employment.
